Reliability Subcommittee

Mission Statement

The NWIBRT Reliability Subcommittee mission is to provide a forum leading to better equipment/systems reliability and maintenance effectiveness in Member and Subscriber organizations.  Mechanisms may include non-proprietary information sharing, development of best practices & standards documents, shared training events, and other cooperative methodologies.  

Those wishing to join the subcommittee must be a representative of a NWIBRT Member or Subscriber organization.  Those on the committee should have an interest in reliability improvements, be capable of attending most of our monthly working meetings, and be willing to actively participate in subcommittee endeavors.

Upcoming Events

2010 Goals

  • Presentation of a Reliability Seminar in 2010.
    Metrics: Critiques of at least 3.8/5.0. Attendance of at least 40 non-committee members.
    Target Date: Complete by 10/21/2010
  • Development of a Cylinder Repair Specification.
    Metrics: Gather appropriate info/team to begin spec. Complete draft for consideration. Publish same after approval.
    Target Date: Info/persons gathered by 3/10/2010; Draft by TBD; Publish by TBD
  • Review/revision of NWIBRT Pump Repair Specification to bring to current practices, align with other NWIBRT standards, and fix irregularities.
    Metrics: Update NWIBRT Pump Repair Specification to reflect current expectations.
    Target Date: Progress update by 4/14/2010; Draft by TBD; Publish by TBD
  • Development of a Motor Load Test Specification.
    Metrics: Complete draft for consideration. Publish same after approval.
    Target Date: Draft by 03/30/2010; Publish by 12/31/2010
  • Review and update MARFER spec as required to align with other NWIBRT specs. Includes other updates/fixes as well.
    Metrics: Complete revision draft for consideration. Publish after approval.
    Target Date: Draft by 06/30/2010; Publish by 12/31/2010
  • Revision of the existing AC & DC Motor Repair Specs to align with details in the "Minimum Acceptance Requirements for Equipment Reliability" standard & Load Test Spec (under development) and update other minor items.
    Metrics: Complete revision draft for consideration. Publish same after approval.
    Target Date: Draft by 03/30/2010; Publish by 09/30/2010
  • Complete a Plant Tour focused on reliability or maintenance/reliability technologies.
    Metrics: Conduct 1 meeting offsite including a plant/facility tour.
    Target Date: 6/1/2010
